With the end of summer fast approaching, Everyone is trying to get that last vacation in, taking your kids school shopping, moving into college dorms and preparing for the fall season. So it is at Westwood! This year has been a trying one for the staff. As I wrote in previous issues, we have been severely under-staffed being unable to locate and hire staff to fill all positions. The skeleton crew has been forced to put in long hours/days, dealing with water problems, housecleaning,maintenance issues and trying to do renovations!!! The board and staff want to thank all owners and guests for their patience and understanding! This week, a commercial contract cleaning company was hired to work with our staff in order to keep your Villa in the condition you expect upon your arrival. So far things are working out ok. The board will meet in a few weeks to begin putting the 2018 budget together. We have been able to keep the maint. cost the same for the last 2 years, despite increases in areas we have no control over. I can't make the same promise again this year, but I will try. ! The foundation of villa's 45-46, which were damaged by water a few years ago, in addition to the subsequent upstairs damage, will soon be repaired. The board has decided to install commercial washers & dryers in the basement of 45-46 for use by all guests. More info. will be forthcoming. As I write, the installers of the WIFI are moving forward, one villa at a time. They promise that they will finish the installation as fast as possible. The board hopes that everyone has enjoyed their stay at Westwood this year and are looking forward to meeting and talking with you at the annual owner's meeting in December. It's hard to believe that fall is upon us. We hope you had a wonderful and memorable summer. We are looking forward to the beautiful, crisp autumn weather and changing leaves in the Pocono Mountains. If you are planning on depositing your week for an exchange we advise you to call us right away so we can save your week. We are here seven (7) days a week to help with any concerns or questions you may have regarding your vacation ownership.
As a reminder, there are various firms contacting our members claiming to represent Interval International, and/or Split Rock and Mountain Laurel Resorts. These scammers are also using the internet and radio and television ads to prey on timeshare owners with false promises to get you out of your timeshare. These firms, many with legitimate sounding names, will invite you to a seminar at a hotel or restaurant in your area, and claim that they will assist you in getting out of your timeshare contract, for a fee. We have heard from several of our owners who have fallen prey to this scam and have paid upwards of $10,000 to get out of their timeshare, only to never hear from the company again.
If you do attend one of these seminars we urge you to approach the presentation with a healthy level of skepticism. Attend the meeting, listen to what is said, and ask your questions and price out the alleged services being offered, BUT, before signing anything and certainly before paying any fees, contact our Financial Services Department at 1-800-811-0405. Our representatives are well versed in the alternatives available and together we can work towards resolving any issues you may be having.
